Aquaculture wastewater is effluent from fish farms containing high levels of organic matter, suspended solids, and nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus. These pollutants, from uneaten feed and animal excrement, can lead to environmental issues like eutrophication and low oxygen levels.
 
Treatment methods range from biological processes to advanced electrochemical systems to remove these contaminants and can even enable water reuse, sometimes for crop irrigation.
